First, we like to involve our elders and incorporate traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) to understand what plants are invasive to the area and which ones are beneficial to the local indigenous community. And as an alternative to treating invasive species with herbicides, we can use grazing animals, whether those be goats, sheep, or other herbivores to control the unwanted vegetation. This ensures that fewer chemicals are entering the local ecosystems to cause unwanted degradation.
